His plan is to increase taxes for the upper classes and use that money to pay for things available to the lower class. But an Arizona State University financial professor says "It sounds great, but we tried that during the Great Depression, and (President Franklin D.) Roosevelt kept digging us deeper and deeper and deeper into the hole," The professor also has this to say about Obama's tax plans: "That's going to require staggering tax increases which will collapse the economy." The article says McCain's plan has the best chance of saving jobs and it will jumpstart the economy."People like to work hard and make more money," Sanders said. Arizona State University won't give Obama honorary degree despite protests Well it's nice to see once college that won't cave under pressure. I'm also glad to see they have higher standards than some universities who just throw these degrees at anyone who speaks there. My wife told me the main reason colleges give them out is so they can get important people to speak for free. The official statement from ASU was "His body of work is yet to come. That's why we're not recognizing him with a degree at the beginning of his presidency," Media Relations Director Sharon Keller told the AP Thursday.This is pretty standard for ASU, but apparently people started making a big stink over it after a local paper ran a headline stating something like "ASU refuses to give Obama honorary degree".What are your opinions? Ever seen that green almost scummy looking stuff that almost covers some ponds? That's duckweed. Now, some scientists think it has some incredible useful properties for helping to clean up the PLANET and also feed the animals that feed us! Though wouldn't that put the pollutants into the animals we turn into food? That puts the pollutants into us. Well, maybe the plan has a few flaws, yet. Going back to school So, I have some really great news. It looks like I may be headed back to school in the fall! I am going to be filling out my FAFSA and applying here at ASU. I am hoping that I will be able to do it. My only concern is going to school and working at the same time. I worked in financial aid for about a year so I know a little about how that works;) I am really jazzed about this as I will be able to get into what I really want to do, as I am planning on majoring in genetics! Wish me luck! A lecture on The God Delusion So, I finally got to go see my hero, Richard Dawkins. He did a lecture for ASU's Beyond Center on The God Delusion at Gammage Auditorium. It was really a once in a lifetime experience. One thing that he talked about that really struck a chord with me was why children are automatically assumed to be of the same religion that their parents belong to. I never realized how many times a day that this is done. Think about it yourself. How many times a day do you assume that a child believes the same way that his or her parents believe? I have been guilty of doing this with my own children. I am an atheist and raising my children the same way. I personally think that reason far outweighs any belief in a ghostly daddy sitting in the clouds making sure that we mind our manners. However, my children should not be labeled as atheist children anymore than I should label my neighbors' children as catholic or hindu children. What are your thoughts on this subject? UCLA v.s. USC this weekend So I'm a die-hard Bruin fan. We've still got something riding on this weekends game (as unbelievable as that is to believe) We need some help but if we can beat 'SC & ASU loses to Arizona, we go to the Rose Bowl. So...does anyone think that's possible? Will we beat USC this weekend? Will we go to the Rose Bowl?
